Hi — Marisa here. If you've read a few pages on this site, you already know I'd rather answer a real question from a real person than write another generic tip list, so please don't hesitate to reach out. Whether you're stuck on something with your own dog, spotted an error in an article, or just want to say a training plan actually worked for once, I want to hear it.

The fastest and most reliable way to reach us is email: [email protected]. That inbox is checked by me and one other team member, and we read every single message — even the ones we can't respond to individually right away, because between clients three days a week and running this site, some weeks are busier than others.

What kinds of messages are welcome

Genuinely, almost everything. Here's what tends to come through, and what we do with it:

  • Training and behaviour questions. I can't replace an in-person assessment or diagnose a behaviour issue over email, but if you're looking for direction — is this normal, what should I read first, am I missing something obvious — I'll point you the right way when I can.
  • Corrections. If something on the site is outdated, unclear, or just wrong, tell us. We take this seriously; you can read more about how we vet and update information on our Editorial Policy page, and corrections are exactly the kind of email that gets fixed fast.
  • Content suggestions. If you've searched for something dog-related and come up empty, or you've got a hard-won lesson from your own reactive dog, older dog, or first-time-puppy experience, we're often building future articles from exactly those emails.
  • Technical issues. Broken links, pages that won't load, formatting gone sideways — send a screenshot if you can, and we'll get it sorted.
  • Collaborations and press. If you're a trainer, vet professional, rescue, or brand interested in working together, please start with our Collaboration page — it explains what we're open to and what we're not, and it'll save us both some back-and-forth.

A few things that help us reply faster

We're a small team, so a little context goes a long way:

  • Mention which page or article you're writing about, with a link if you have it.
  • If it's a dog behaviour question, a sentence or two about your dog's age, breed, and what's actually happening (not just "he's reactive") helps enormously — the same way it would in an actual training session.
  • One clear question gets a faster answer than five loosely connected ones. We'll always try to answer everything, but specific beats sprawling.
  • If you've already checked our Community Guidelines or About Us page and your question is still unanswered, say so — it tells us where our own content has gaps.

A quick health and safety note

This is the one I want you to actually read. Raising Good Dogs is an educational site, not a substitute for hands-on veterinary or behavioural care. If your dog is showing sudden aggression, is in physical pain, has stopped eating, or you're genuinely worried about safety — yours, your dog's, or someone else's — please contact a veterinarian or a qualified force-free trainer in your area before you contact us. Email is not the right channel for anything urgent, and I say that as someone who spent six years in veterinary practice before I ever picked up a leash professionally. Nothing on this site, including anything I write back personally, should be treated as a diagnosis or a replacement for an in-person assessment of your specific dog. Our Disclaimer page goes into more detail if you want the full picture.

Response times

I try to get back to personal emails within a few business days, though training weeks sometimes push that closer to a week. Business and collaboration inquiries are usually handled by the wider team on a similar timeline. If you haven't heard back after ten days, it's fine to follow up — things occasionally land in spam, and we'd rather you nudge us than assume we ignored you.

For anything related to how we handle your information when you write to us, our Privacy Policy covers that in plain language. And if you're simply curious about who's actually behind this site and why it exists, that story lives on the About Us page — it's the same reason I still take clients three days a week, so this site never turns into theory.

Whatever brings you here — a stuck leash, a broken link, or an idea for something we haven't written yet — thank you for taking the time to reach out. That inbox is genuinely one of my favourite parts of this whole project.
